隨：元亨利貞，無咎。
隨卦——大亨通，利於守正，無咎。隨從之事必伴正道，正則無咎。
Sui (indicates that under its conditions) there will be great progress and success. But it will be advantageous to be firm and correct. There will (then) be no error.
隨，剛來而下柔，動而說，隨。大亨貞無咎，而天下隨時，隨之時義大矣哉！
隨：剛爻（震）來而居於柔爻（兌）之下，動而悅，所以為隨。大亨守正而無咎——天下萬物隨時而動，隨之時義真大啊！
In Sui we see the strong come and place itself under the weak; we have (the qualities of) movement and pleased satisfaction — that is Sui. There is great progress and success in being firm and correct, so that there shall be no error, and all under heaven shall follow at such a time.

澤中有雷，隨
(The trigram representing) a marsh and (above it that for) thunder (in the midst of it), form Sui.
君子以嚮晦入宴息。
The superior man, in accordance with this, when the day darkens, enters (his house) and rests in retirement.
澤中有雷——隨之象（雷藏澤中，靜而隨時）。君子由此體會：當夜晚來臨時就入屋休息（順時而息）。

官有渝，貞吉。出門交有功。
官位有變動——守正則吉。出門交往有功。
The first NINE shows us one in office whose views are changed. If he be firm and correct, there will be good fortune. (His) going beyond (his own) gate to meet others will lead to achievement.
官有渝，從正吉也。出門交有功，不失也。
官位變動而從正則吉。出門交往有功，不會失。
係小子，失丈夫。
繫於小子（次要的人）——失了丈夫（重要的人）。陰柔不能兼，所從非正。
The second SIX shows us one who cleaves to the little boy, and lets go the man of age and experience.
係小子，弗兼與也。
繫於小子，是不能兼顧。
係丈夫，失小子，隨有求得，利居貞。
繫於丈夫，失了小子——所隨之事有求得，利於居正。能舍小取大。
The third SIX shows us one who cleaves to the man of age and experience, and lets go the little boy. Such following will get what it seeks; but it will be advantageous to adhere to what is firm and correct.
係丈夫，志舍下也。
繫於丈夫，是志在舍下而從上。
隨有獲，貞凶。有孚在道，以明，何咎？
隨從而有所獲——守此凶。但若有誠信於道而光明——何咎？得而能正則無咎。
The fourth NINE shows us one followed and obtaining (adherents). Though he be firm and correct, there will be evil. If he be sincere (however) in his course, and make that evident, into what error can he fall?
隨有獲，其義凶也。有孚在道，明功也。
隨而有獲，按理是凶。有孚在道，是明功的力量。
孚于嘉，吉。
誠信於美善——吉。剛中得位，所隨者皆嘉美。
The fifth NINE shows us one sincerely cleaving to what is excellent. There will be good fortune.
孚于嘉吉，位正中也。
孚於嘉之吉，是位正而中。
拘係之，乃從維之。王用亨于西山。
緊緊拘係——再加以維繫之。君王用此祭享於西山。隨之至極，必須堅固維繫之。
The topmost SIX shows us (the case of) parties laid hold of and bound, and then further secured by ropes. (We see) the king with it presenting his offerings on the western mountain.
拘係之，上窮也。
拘係而又繫之，是上爻已窮。
To follow, to comply; also to move with the times. The hexagram's theme carries all three senses.
To change, to shift.
To tie oneself to, to attach to — the image of cleaving to a person.
Sincerity, inner trust — good faith that can be relied on.
Excellent, fine, good — what deserves to be followed.
To grasp, to hold fast; to bind.
To rest in quiet; to retire and repose.
Toward dusk — as the day darkens.
